Arsenal have rejected a £30milion offer from Juventus for
Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez, according to reports in the Italian press.
Juventus are searching for a suitable replacement for Alvaro
Morata, who left the club to return to Real Madrid in a £23m deal earlier this
summer.
Sanchez is viewed as the best available candidate to replace
Morata but Arsenal are unhappy with the £30m offered by Juventus, according to
Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
The Gunners signed Sanchez from Barcelona for the same fee
two seasons ago and are thought to want to make a profit on the diminutive
forward, if they choose to sell.
The 27-year-old has impressed since arriving in England –
scoring 42 goals in 93 appearances for the Gunners over the last two seasons.
Sanchez has also enjoyed success with his national team in
recent years and was an integral part of the Chile side that secured a second
successive Copa America triumph in June.
The Arsenal striker scored three goals in the competition
and won the Player of the Tournament award following his side's penalty
shootout victory over Argentina last month's final.
The South American star is currently on holiday following
his international exploits and is not expected to return to Arsenal until later
this month.
However, he could face increased competition for places when
he returns from his summer break.
Arsenal have been linked with Lyon's 25-year-old striker
Alexandre Lacazette and Wolfsburg's German international Julian Draxler in
recent weeks.
Lyon want at least £42m for Lacazette and so any deal for
the French striker may rely on Arsenal allowing Sanchez to leave the Emirates.
The Gunners face Lens in their first pre-season friendly on
July 22 ahead of their opening Premier League fixture at home against Liverpool
on August 13.
