Thierry Henry believes Cristiano Ronaldo will bounce back from an 'off night' for Portugal after Euro 2016 minnows Iceland rescued a point from their opening Group F encounter in St Etienne.
Nani put Portugal in control but Iceland earned a deserved point after Birkir Bjarnason volleyed home but Ronaldo missed two clear-cut chances to hand Fernando Santos' side all three points at Stade Geoffroy Guichard.

The Real Madrid star produced a fresh-air kick in the first-half before he planted a late header straight at Hannes Thor Halldorsson, but Henry believes Iceland ought to be lauded for keeping Ronaldo quiet.

Speaking as a pundit for the BBC's coverage alongside Alan Shearer and Belgium defender Vincent Kompany, Henry said: ‘You have to give Iceland credit for how they stopped Ronaldo.
'There was some great pieces of defending and they didn’t give him an opportunity to turn and go.

‘If I was the next team to play him, I’ll be worried because you don’t expect him to go two games like this.’

Ronaldo, who won his 127th cap to equal the Portuguese record set by Luis Figo, will hope to make his mark on the tournament against Austria in the next group game on Saturday night at the Parc des Princes.
Shearer believes the 31-year-old suffered from a frustrating night in St Etienne, despite showing glimpses of his qualities with a pin-point cross for Nani before the break which nearly resulted in a goal.
‘He was trying too hard tonight,' Shearer told the BBC.

‘For Ronaldo, it was an off night, and he should’ve done better with his chances. You just know sometimes when it’s just not going to be your night.
'But the reason you saw Iceland qualify from a group with Holland and the Czech Republic is because they played like this.'

Kompany added: ‘I can’t criticise this man, he’s had an off night but you expect him to get them through the group.’
Iceland were making their first appearance at a major tournament and, despite Portugal having the lion's share of possession, Lars Lagerback's side held on for a memorable point.
