Koeman has been confirmed as the club’s new manager on a three-year contract and said the sales pitch from Moshiri and chairman Bill Kenwright was one of the factors which convinced him to quit Southampton.
The Dutchman has replaced Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park following his sacking at the end of last season and will lead Everton into a new era.
“It’s a great feeling,” said Koeman. “It was amazing when I had the first contact with the Chairman and Farhad Moshiri about their interest.
“I was interested to listen and to hear about their big project, their vision which they want over the coming seasons. Of course, I am pleased to be part of that - it’s really enjoyable.
“The ambition is always to give the fans spirit so they can see the team is fighting for everything and we want to try to play good football.
“They are the basics for what you need to get good results. Being a footballer these days isn’t like being a player 20 or 30 years ago because it’s a really tough job and you have to be disciplined and live for it.
“Everton have a big history and we will do everything we can to try to reach what was reached in the past. That is difficult but I believe with all of the people involved at Everton and with the fans that anything is possible.”
Everton considered the likes of Manuel Pellegrini, Frank de Boer, David Moyes and Unai Emery, but Koeman was always their first choice.
He is set to start work on overhauling the squad he has inherited at the end of the week and aims to deliver a team Everton supporters can be proud of again.
“There is always a good ambience and atmosphere at Goodison Park,” he said.
“When I was at Southampton, we had a bad experience because we lost at home to Everton and the Everton fans maybe had one of the best feelings on the road last season.
“Of course, we want to give them a good feeling every week and a good feeling about the team by working hard, playing good football and trying to get good results.”
